Over 500,000 British Tourists Expected to Visit Egypt This Winter

UK Ambassador to Egypt, Gareth Bayley, said that he expects at least 500,000 British tourists will visit Egypt this winter, taking into account that there are currently 3,000 to 5,000 British tourists visiting Egypt per month, with over 45 flights per week in operation.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of British tourists visiting Egypt had reached nearly half a million. Over ten years ago, almost a million British tourists visited Egypt annually. Even so, the UK remains one of the largest tourist markets for Egypt. From 2010 to 2015, it was ranked between the second and fourth largest source of tourists to Egypt.

Last month marked new beginnings after the UK removed Egypt from its red list for travel due to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Shortly afterwards, Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport received its first inbound flight from London after more than a year-long halt due to the pandemic.
