Stunning Video Follows the Sinai Trail and Gets Nominated for British Guild Awards

Egypt’s Bedouin-run project, Sinai Trail, has been nominated as one of the best new tourism projects in the world at the British Guild of Travel Writers Tourism Awards in London.

The project, a 200 km hiking route from the Gulf of Aqaba to the top of Egypt's Mount Catherine, has been developing since 2014 and will see the first team of hikers to cross it all this November in a 12-day experience that will lead them to one of the most important milestones in Egypt’s hiking history.

The project represents Egypt's first long distance hiking trail, and part of a Middle East-wide trail network voted the number one new trail in the world by National Geographic. The 200 km hiking route was built by three Bedouin tribes who joined efforts to make it accessible for everyone to walk, and developed a series of resources – including maps, GPS tracks, and tours – all gathered on their website, Sinai Trail.

Now, the project is competing internationally this weekend at the British Guild of Travel Writers Tourism Award, in the 'Rest of the World' category, battling against USA's Mountain Music Trail and Limalimo Lodge in Ethiopia. Their video, filmed by Ahmed Ezzat, explores the dreams of the communities behind the project in a beautiful account of their culture, their identity, and their stunning land.
