Switzerland Removes Egypt from Quarantine List
Switzerland has reversed a decision it made last week, when it placed Egypt on a mandatory quarantine list in response to the emergence of the new Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
Travellers from Egypt have been taken off Switzerland’s COVID-19 quarantine list.
Last week, Switzerland had placed Egypt - along with a handful of other African nations - on a mandatory 10-day quarantine list in order to curb the spread of the new Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
Instead, Switzerland will uphold a tougher testing regime for arrivals from Egypt. Anyone travelling from Egypt to Swiss territory must present a negative PCR test before boarding, and take another PCR test four to seven days after arrival.
As per the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Population, Egypt has yet to detect any cases of the Omicron variant.
