Tour the Prophet’s Mosque Without Actually Being There

Saudi Arabia has launched a new initiative that will allow Muslims to virtually roam through the Prophet’s Mosque using virtual reality. Yup, you read that right.

As of now, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Saudi Arabia has started providing VR glasses to anyone attending the ‘Holy Quran’ exhibition at the Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah governorate, where visitors can experience the entire space without actually having to be there.

The tour starts from the very entrance of Bab Al-Salam, passing through the path of Bab Jibril until it reaches Bab Al-Rahma. You then get to explore the outer courtyards until you reach the top of the minaret where you get to arrive at the Manuscript Gallery.

The kingdom aims to provide more virtual reality experiences in the future to help make such landmarks accessible to everyone.
