Travellers in Egypt Can Register for COVID-19 Vaccine Within 72 Hours

Egyptians and foreign citizens within the country who wish to travel abroad can now receive a COVID-19 vaccine within 72 hours of registering.

Mostafa Mohamady, the Director of the Vaccination Centre at the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA), announced that the fast-track option is available for anyone currently unvaccinated and planning either essential or non-essential travel into countries that require vaccines upon entry.

Hopeful vaccine recipients can register through the Ministry of Health’s website and must be sure to mark the ‘traveller’ box upon registering, before they will be contacted with information about their appointment. It was not clarified whether or not individuals must bring proof of plane tickets or visas.

The accelerated option comes as Egypt prepares to receive new shipments of vaccines as part of the World Health Organisation’s COVAX programme, including its first batch of Johnson and Johnson (J&J) single-dose jabs and a new delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines expected next week.
