London Calling: The Hottest New Hotel Openings

With Egypt finally coming off the UK’s red list, we imagine some of you are already looking at flights for your next British escape. While many of us have been cooped up working from home for the best part of the last year and a half, London has been preparing to reclaim its title as the ultimate hub for bespoke and luxurious international travel. In 2020 alone, a record high of 65 hotels opened up in the capital. How to possibly know which ones are worth splashing the cash? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

The Londoner, Leicester Square

Launching as the world’s first ‘super boutique hotel’, The Londoner steals the top spot in just about every category. Boasting 350 rooms and a prime location in London’s legendary Leicester Square, this swanky new addition to the city’s luxury boutique hotel scene offers guests incredible views of the capital from its stylish azayaka rooftop lounge. Costing over £300 million pounds to build and costing you upwards of £500 a night, you’ll be pleased to know this hotel is kitted out with all of the trimmings: a private social club, a stunning Retreat pool, imported Japanese whiskies and a gorgeous design throughout.

Beaverbrook Town House

Want something a little more lowkey, without compromising on luxury? Beaverbook Town House is a 5* luxury hotel nestled amongst authentic London homes overlooking Chelsea’s leafy-green Cadogan Gardens. Occupying two Georgian townhouses, this 14-suite hotel promises quintessential British charm with a twist: enjoy artful Japanese cuisine in the hotel’s Art-Deco inspired bar and restaurant.

Canopy by Hilton London City

Opening its doors next month, the UK’s first Canopy by Hilton London City will open in London’s East End to those looking for a stylish, tranquil stay in the city. The elegant decor is gorgeously gloomy, with dark plush seating and refined, moody wallpaper exquisitely contrasting with muted golden furniture and chandeliers throughout. The former Bow Street Magistrates Court is famed for the accused criminals it tried, including Oscar Wilde and the infamous Krays.

Treehouse London

Technically, this one shouldn’t have made the list - as the hotel actually opened at the end of 2019 - but we couldn’t not include this one! Treehouse London is bound to be a firm favourite for anyone who likes to bring a little more jungle to their urban adventures. With lush, green foliage hanging from various ceilings, a rustic, timber decor throughout and four cosy eateries to choose from, the big kids inside all of us will be just as satisfied with a stay in this Marylebone 4* hotel.

You’re not gonna find anything more British than this. With a Big Ben rocket sculpture in the lobby, an in-house British pub, royal family portraiture and punk graffiti throughout, nhow London has all the bells and ribbons needed (quite literally!) to spruce up your Insta feed and cast no doubt that you’re vacaying in the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

Zedwell Trocado
