Exclusive: Norine Farah's Oasis Collection Shot in NYC

We’ve been following young fashion designer Norine Farah, most recently prior to showcasing her F/W 16 Oasis collection at Tiffany's New York Fashion Week. We also had the opportunity to speak to her once again as we bring you a sneak preview of her brand new editorial shoot, produced in Williamsburg, New York. Combining Western fabrics and cuts with flawless Eastern styling to create meticulously majestic dresses, the shoot exhibits them in a rather antithetic setting. “I needed to find a structural and industrial location to go along with my Baroque inspired designs and patterns,” says Farah. “My dresses also collectively possessed an Arabic theme blotched with westbound influence. I simply needed the contrast in everything in order to accentuate the dresses.”

You can witness the dramatic effect piercing through the photos, with the location marvelously complimenting her collection as it goes against the nature behind their inspiration. A modern artistic flair persists nonetheless, and the use of both classical and state-of-the-art influences elevates Farah’s collection and editorial shoot to a whole other level of marvel.

Farah selected models Kimone Berwise and Whitney Sather, straight from Tiffany’s New York Fashion Week catwalk, to fulfill the editorial shoot concept. “I loved being a part of it, it was a great experience. So well organised too. I also had a chance to speak to a lot of media and meet other designers and fascinating people, it was just fabulous!”

For her Oasis collection photo shoot, Farah also picked photographer Katherine Angelique, also from Tiffany’s NYFW, and used fabrics by Salem Altamoda. She styled the models herself, with make up by Sephora.

Norine Farah continues to develop her aesthetic and we can't to see what she comes up with, with every collection. She retains a natural, innate talent to produce lavishly defiant couture the fashion Egypt has never seen in such light. Simple and elegant yet distinct and aesthetically timeless, she still has a few tricks up her sleeve. “I’ll soon start working on my summer collection, which will NOT be pretty, I’m getting tired of pretty. I aim for more edge! That’s certainly what’s next in line.”
