Farah Wagdy: the Egyptian Designer Reinventing the Blazer

We’ve all had the misfortune of being expected to wear a uniform – or at least look like ‘professional’ women. Odds are, an itchy, unflattering blazer was involved. And it’s a shame because blazers have so much potential, they even make denim dressy and party dresses polished.
Farah Wagdy, a self-titled blazer brand, is transforming the traditional preppy piece with an eccentric and whimsical twist. We’re talking over-sized jackets, padded shoulders, fur sleeves, cut-outs and sequined embellishments. Trust us, you’ll want in.

“My aim was to restructure and revitalise the plain blazer. It’s appropriate to wear a blazer anywhere – it all depends on what the blazer looks like. I make casual blazers, more formal ones for work, and more glamorous ones for clubbing and special occasions,” tells us Wagdy.
Farah Wagdy’s black blazer dress is super sexy and will be sure to turn those heads this weekend. With collar front and pocket features this dress is killing it – especially when styled with fishnet tights and dressy boots.

The latest collection ‘De-structuring Nature’ features a line of hyper-feminine red, blue, and burgundy velvet blazers and super-sexy paillette jackets. “I’m pulling nature apart while focusing on the details. The velvet blazers were inspired by a bush of flowers, and the paillette jackets from fishtape,” adds Wagdy.
