Staking its claim as one of the chicest labels in the local fashion scene, contemporary RTW brand Rigash’s newest summer collection ‘Negative’ features their signature sleek palettes and crisp cuts, along with an edge for environmentalism. Using materials such as linen, Egyptian cotton, gabardine and leather made from mango peels, ‘Negative’ is all about keeping our wardrobes green and our ecoconsciousness clean.

“I challenged myself to do my same designs in an entirely biodegradable way,” founder and designer Lamia Rady tells #CairoScene. “I was angry because I felt like there wasn’t enough awareness about ecoconsciousness in fashion. I went vegetarian a few years back, so this cause is very important to me.”

The collection is named after the ‘negative’ impact the fashion industry, and humanity as a whole, can have on the planet. The word ‘negative’ has also been incorporated into her designs, where matching sets are created as mirrored images of each other’s negative space. For example, a cropped blazer paired with a short skirt - each piece uses fabric where the other is cut out, completing each other in more ways than one.
